Unnerving and (partly) my fault

Yes i agree and i don't wish to upset or argue with Dan at all i just don't get his point. Unless the OP broke any law which im not aware of. Usually someone can say your in the wrong as you went against what your allowed to do, or you acted in a dangerous manor etc. I don't see any of that in this case that's all.

I don't think your positions on the incident are that far apart.

Thats the point. I agree with him but just differ on the justification or I have taken a broader view on justification(if that doesn't sound too arrogant).

Thats settled then we are both right just me more than you . Nah im kidding i dont look at the broader view as im thick so i just take it on face value which does get me in trouble

I do it all the time. I just happen to have my history head on(lots of coursework in the process of being done).

I personally think that the taxi driver could of and should of moved over but you shouldn't have put him in that position in the first place. That was not safe filtering for me. You put yourself massively at risk there.

Would you overtake in that situation in a car? That was riding on the wrong side of the road.
On a motorcycle I often did exactly that. I also do the same on my bicycle when filtering on the left would be dangerous.
To overtake stationary traffic as in this case, moving out into the oncoming lane so that visibility is clear and so that any sudden u-turn from any of the stationary cars can be spotted early on is advisable. Hugging the cars would be very dangerous while passing imo.
However, I do also make sure I get back across my side of the line before any oncoming traffic would be affected.

The taxi did move over though. He moved to his right to put the frighteners on the OP, or so it seems to me from the video. Of course we're only guessing, but there's no other reason for him to swerve towards the cyclist.

I'm not sure that's a good example to give. Would you filter in a car? Obviously not. Would you filter in this situation on a motorcycle? I'd say the answer would be yes for virtually all motorcycles, including police riders. I'd say there was nothing wrong with his filtering here, and that the taxi driver was just aggressive and trying to put the frighteners on the OP.
