Unpopular holiday destinations that appeal to you

I imagine Scapa Flow is possibly one of the most interesting places to dive around the UK, thanks to Gunther Prien and his crew.

I've spent about six months in the Dhofur region of Oman, both in the Empty Quarter (sand and rocks), and south of the jebel in and around Salalah (a couple of months of lush greenery then sand and rocks, plus ocean. It was mostly work but I'd love to actually spend a significant amount of time trekking on the jebel, can't see the wife going for it though.

I went skiing in Dombai in the Karachay–Cherkess region of Russia in 2008, just 5km from the Georgian border, small resort but great fun and very friendly people.

Romania was nice, from what i saw in my short visit there. Iasi has a shabby charm. i'd like to visit more eastern european places, but i'm too poor to go anywhere.

Spent quite a bit of time working in Romania and did manage to get a weekend there with a friend, hired a car and drove from Bucharest to Bran (location of the castle that inspired Bram Stoker) and back via Brasov. Yes agree with the shabby charm and fantastic countryside.

There's loads of places I'd like to go - would really like to go to Siberia, but given a choice I would love a trip to Kamchatka.

I have been to Kashmir though it was about 25 years ago but it was great.

not so much a holiday destination but I'll like to visit chernobyl in the ukraine, seen a documentary on the ghost towns, there is a football stadum were there are 20 foot + trees growing on the pitch, it's just somewhere I'll like to visit....

We got an email from groupon, or wowcher or something like that with an offer for a holiday to Chernoyl. They didn't seem to have many takers.
