Unsolicited advice from a motorist

Cycling back from work through sarf Lunnun the other day, I was passed by a BIG silver Merc with “Seek first the LORD and put your faith in HIM” in six inch letters on the rear window. “And then put your faith in a big silver Merc” I thought to myself, as I passed him at the zebra crossing.

A few metres later, I heard a garbled yell from the window of the Merc as it came alongside –“Yaddle twy”, or something similar. It didn’t sound aggressive, so I caught up and said “What was that?” “Ya saddle too high. Ya hips is ROOOOLLLin!” was the response. “Really? Just put the bike together, very likely”. “Ah ride for DeVer cycles ya know – ya need to drap ya saddle” and off he sped.

And he was right – put it down by half an inch and it was much more comfortable.

Thank you, Mr. Merc driver.

Should you be uncomfortable about another man studying your arse so much as to be passing comment on it?

More to the point, should he be doing this whilst driving??:ohmy:

Quality story though!!

Which only confirms that some, if not most, car drivers either are or have been cyclists at some time and are not out to make trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could have been I guess.

DeVer is the only team I've seen with riders that have dreads under their helmets! It looks so cool!!
