Time to upgrade/pimp my brakes on my On-One Pompi single-speed.

Currently I just have cheap Tektro mini-V brakes. Tyres are some knobbly Michelin TransworldSports which I will probably reuse (bike regularly does rough paths and country lanes) on my new, arrive in a couple of weeks, wheels with Mavic Open Pro rims.

The first thought was to go with better v-brakes, such as £100 Avid Single Digit Ultimates

Any views on these? (sadly they don't look sexy)
Or with that budget in mind, anyone got any other suggestions ?

I don't have the bosses for cyclo-cross centre-pull cantilever brakes

What levers are you using? That's probably the determining factor. Mini Vs work with either road levers or MTB levers, though better with the latter. Full size Vs(Which need MTB levers or a converter) with the right levers will stop you better than minis or cantis (Which work with road levers) though I prefer cantis (Which use the same bosses as Vs)

If you want better braking, first get really good cables, then the best pads, and then consider the brakes themselves. Sorry, can't help with sexy :whistle:

Or maybe I can;
