It is 1.440kgs with tyre deflated so the air weighs 7grs!
But we are neglecting the buoyancy of the inflated tyre ...

(Light wheels are nice, but a few grams here or there are not going to make much difference. Hundreds of grams, I definitely notice - trying to spin up the chunky tyres/wheels on my MTB takes a lot more effort than those Protons do on a road bike.)

I've just put some 1.1kg a piece tyres on my cx bike, can tell the difference there alright ^_^

Not to forget the weight of the mtb frame, much heavier than tyres.:stop:

True, but I don't normally attempt to spin the frame round in circles, then stop spinning it, then spin it again, then stop it, then ...

I certainly feel the weight of my 28+ lb steel MTB when climbing some of the 20-25% offroad climbs round here! I'd love to own a (say) sub-22 lb MTB but I can't see me being able to afford one any time soon. I'm hoping to compromise by getting a CX bike which should weigh more like 24 lbs with rack and mudguards fitted.
