My headset (combined stereo headphone and mono mike) comes with 3.5 mm TRRS male jack.

I want a male USB adapter with onboard sound card with a single female TRS socket to plug into my PC. (Surface 4 Pro)

I can only find USB adapters with seperate female sockets for headphones and mic rather than combined ones.

Anyone?

(I suspect the jack socket on the Surface Pro 4 is borked; a known problem - sound (recording) quality with the headset is shockingly poor on the PC but A -OK when used with my phone and other devices. QED. Can't be arsed to return the PC under warranty when a five quid adapter gives me a workaround.

Exactly what I was trying to avoid in point of fact. But I think you're right. Darned if I can find one (phone to usb adapter) with just one hole.

The issue is most sound cards and aux. sockets on the front of PC's are that they are separate sockets. Our laptop has one socket, so we had to get headphone and mic converter to one socket. It's worth getting the adapters though.
