Using Garmin with HRM on a spin bike

Got a nice shiny HRM & strap for christmas - its ANT+ so works with my Garmin edge explore. Unfortunately I have been laid low with a groin injury for a few weeks - so its short sessions on the spin bike only. (Spin bike is basic and doesn't record HR).

I wonder how I could set this (The Garmin) up to record my HR whilst doing such sessions - I start ride but because I m not moving it stops - and doesn't even record elapsed time ....Thanks in advance.

Turn off the auto pause on the Garmin.

As well as turning off the auto pause and to make it more interesting ensure the garmin is set to system GPS off and buy a speed and or cadence sensor they are not expensive. Something like this, cheaper can be found

You could also just record the HR on your phone (assuming the HRM is Bluetooth).

Use a free virtual cycling app and pair via BT, as mentioned better still if you have a speed and or cadence sensor

If your strap doesn't support bluetooth, you can get a USB ANT+ dongle and install Goldencheetah, and bypass the garmin head unit entirely.
