How long has this been an option for style choice at the bottom of the page? Just noticed it.

About a month or so.
Someone had layout issues and one of the things vBulletin recommend is using the default layout to see if the problem is still there.
If it isn't, then it's an issue with template changes.
In the event, it was a caching issue with AOL's servers that was the problem.
I'll turn it off ...
