Mrs Drago had a 308 GT. It was a great car for the few weeks she had it, until a deer committed high speed seppuku into the grille on the M45 one night.
Peugeot can cherry pick the models it wants and ditch the rest. For GM selling makes them money, closing costs a fortune and has political repercussions. What I cannot understand (which is par for the course as there are lots of things I can't understand).................is
a) if Vauxhall can't make it pay, how do Peugeot expect to turn it around?
b) if, as some have said, Peugeot plan to close Ellesmere Port down.......why don't Vauxhall just close it down ?
I have had a few Vauxhalls over the years and found them all to be nice comfortable drives............as is the Astra I have now.
Mind you I also had the pleasure of owning a Volvo C70 coupe for 2 years........now that blew me away.
Mrs ck has a meriva and has always liked Vauxhall's too, although she can see the sense in a dacia as our next car. That's just about it. I like Vauxhall, had a fair few but they are nothing special as you say, but if you just want a car to do a simple job, they do that and represent good value for money. That said, my Astra J is a let down after the H, heavy and relatively uneconomical...but it is better refined. Compared to Golf's, Seats etc etc, they're not as good... but, they're not those prices either. Inevitably, Peugeot will cut production at the least, long term I think you'd see the brand disappear. Despite my liking of Vauxhall, I can't say I'd be heartbroken if the brand disappeared.
Another angle, when I got my former Astra, I did consider a 308 I think it was. My manager had one, I asked his opinion....THE most uninspiring car he ever owned he said . Reliable, good value etc etc...but quite dead to drive. Pretty much like my current Astra I suspect.
Are you sure?Vauxhall don't make bikes.
I would love one of those again.
I hired one once, maybe in the late 70s....quirky car, loved that push, pull, side to side gearshift.they were fun..we had 2 Renault 6 cars too..loved that gear shift in the dash
