Ta for that - I'll have a look at a possible route tonight

Just if you do go near Great Milton don't make the same navigation error I did on that map! Although that was due to a propped open gate in the dark, in all fairness. 🫣

Nice, yeah, that Northeastern end towards Chippy gets pretty lumpy.

For Sandhills, almost certainly easiest to to use the cycle path beside the A40. To the south you've got Shotover, which is itself a decent climb.

I'd probably be looking at heading to Wheatley and then coming back via Horspath, Cuddesdon Road and Butts Road probably?

The south east corner of that map has the access route to one of my favourite back roads. Head down from Great Haseley to Little Haseley, then on to Rofford Lane towards Chalgrove. Really quiet, pretty scenery, fairly smooth tarmac.

I had considered doing more but opted only for 12 tiles today. The "optional" orange section will be for another occasion. The hill at Shotover/Risinghurst was "interesting". Technically a footpath and technically it needed to be in places. 24%, muddy and tree roots everywhere. Deffo a gravel bike route though for that hilly section Risinghurst to Littleworth. The rest was road bikeable.

Actually did that one on an audax, iirc the wind behind me, was cruising along hitting 40 km/h.

I've just looked and one of the tiles I targeted near Charlbury on Thursday has only been visited by 16 people.

Surprising as it wasn't at all difficult to get - just go on an open wide footpath off the road for a couple of hundred yards. That's even fewer people (by one) than the difficult one at Westcott Venture park that I had to climb over gates and be a bit "cheeky" to get last year.

14 new tiles in my North-West corner this morning. A ride out from the National Herb Centre.
I almost ended up going up Edge Hill by mistake. 6 other climbs on that route, so Edge was "surplus to requirements".

Takes my square from 24 to 26
I saw your Strava earlier and thought with the route that's a square grabbing ride with all the dead end tentacles 😁

That's my neck of the woods - some decent lumps around ther. Shame you missed the Burton Dassett Climb, always worth a visit.

The Hill you climbed in Avon Dassett has an annual downhill Go-Kart race ^_^

I've got some rare ones very close to home, a 4 athletes and a 3 athletes.

Some later amphibious activities there, but they were not tile grabbing, more practice for a future endeavour...

My rarest is I believe two people, but that one was especially cheeky.

I've no doubt I will be back to do that one at some point. You have to draw the line somewhere. To be honest I found 547m in 28 miles quite enough for today. Climbing back up to the National Herb centre was one climb more than I would have liked. Save the hardest until last.
Thankfully they were all quite short.

I tend to use this area to go for Power PB's. As you say, most are steep but fairly short.
