I'd probably have gone that way in January, however it was possible to ride everywhere yesterday. Trying to stick to footpaths / bridleways if possible - apart from the Long Buckby one of course

I guess some private roads are more private than others :okay:

Another away day drive to the start , Headed to Hatton Locks in Warwickshire which is near by bottom left corner . Did a nice 37 mile Loop gaining 19 new squares total now 6730,max cluster up 18 to 3660 . Looking for my climbing legs as next away day may be my top left corner which is just above Ashbourne in the peaks and will be a bit lumpy

I will have to return at some stage ,I missed a square in Henley in Arden . The climb screen was on my wahoo and I missed a turn into a side street . I was surprised how lumpy it was on the route nothing big just up and down all day . I was on the A453 dual carriageway for a very short stretch which was interesting ,bad planning there

Yep, no big hills close to me, but lots of rolling stuff.

I mean, I've purposefully ridden on the A34 before for some sweet sweet tiles.. Just a bit south of Oxford. 😬

The SW corner of your square is in a similar position to mine. I have had a route planned to mop up the tiles towards Redditch for some time now but haven't got round to riding it. I am planning on entering an MTB orienteering event based at Rowington next month and hope that this means that I will get some tiles 'for free'. The event is just three hours so I may even head back out afterwards to fill any spaces as it saves the ~140k round trip by bike.

The reason I drove to the start for this as the last time I headed that way I had a nightmare with HS2 roadworks trying to plan a ride that far from home with at best sketchy details about road closures etc was a pain . If you don't mind driving Hatton locks is a good start point £3 all day parking cafe on site and felt perfectly safe leaving the car

You're still a nasty horrid cheat. I would NEVER do such a thing as drive to the start.
Honestly I think it's the way to go if you're more interested in exploring than mammoth long rides, but everyone sets their own goalposts.

Totally agree with you about the HS2 stuff. It's a bit of a nightmare and many closures seem to be badly advertised. I would be really p'ed off to ride 50 miles to a tile and then not be able to get it.

It has caught me out several times. Not only annoying, the Diversions are no big deal to cars, but an extra 10 miles on the bike can be a tad tiresome
