Today's big square upgrade sadly will have to wait for another day . The plan was to complete a 100km ride starting from Oundle heading to my Eastern edge and grabbing a few difficult squares to enable the upgrade . Car parked on my way ,1st gravel sector puncture !! . I'm still on bike no2 which runs tubes rather than tubeless on best bike flat was a pinch flat I may have had the pressure a bit low as that's what I'm used to on tubeless , No issues new tube fitted and I'm soon on my way .Gravel sector 2 another puncture !!😤😤 other wheel this one caused by a nail so 2nd and last spare tube fitted . So I'm 6.5 miles into the ride with no more spare tubes yes I've got patches but do I want to be patching tubes roadside ,answer no so route abandoned as I knew more gravel and off roading was incoming , headed back to Oundle then pushing my luck by completing 50km to grab some random squares east of Oundle which were all on road to make the trip worth it

On the way home I decided to stop in the village of Geddington and have a wonder along a footpath along which at some point I got lost (twice actually) and found myself wandering into a technically impossible square which just happen to be right on my Eastern edge 😁 so the day wasn't all bad

Total squares up 14 to 7515 ,max cluster up 8 to 4055

Drove to Peckleton and did a 40 miler grabbing 30 tiles on my NE area - which completed 2 of my Northern Rows.

Enjoyed riding in the heat and seeing some of Leicester and its surrounds.

Now need to do a similar ride on my North West area to complete 2 Western Columns and I'll go from 46 to 48 Square. Route already mapped, just need to find the time/opportunity.

An Imperial ton ride today to my neglected western edge ,that's because it's Birmingham so not the nicest ride . Out the door early in an attempt to get through before people were up ,mainly worked traffic was low and well behaved but some parts I cycled through weren't very scenic putting it politely 😁. Anyway 15 new squares total now 7530 Mac cluster also up 15 to 4070 ,Max square increased by 1 to 57*57 . I think I'm 2 rides away from 59*59

My first tile grab in over three months as I try to close the odd gap I have between the Home Counties and that there London (they're linked by a four tile wide bridge, but I'd like to make that wider).

Rode down to Rickmansworth and then Hillingdon on a fairly direct route, then started detouring to pick up tiles. Intention was to get the train home from Northolt Park, where the service at the weekends is once an hour at seven minutes past the hour. I'd set a route that would see me pass the station at 46 miles having claimed 12 tiles, with an optional loop from there of 4 miles and three tiles, which could further be extended to 6 miles and five tiles in total if I had time.

Unfortunately as I pulled up to the station on my first pass, it was 14:04 and knowing that the train journey itself was over an hour to get back home, I decided to get that train rather than add on the extra miles and tiles and have to wait a further 40-45 minutes for the next train.

Map shows the tiles I did manage to get, plus highlighted in green were the possible five I missed out on. 16 added to main cluster in total.

The big summer of square gathering continues and I have reached my target of boosting my max square to 58*58 but I'm not that far away from 59 or even 60 so I will press on . Another drive to the start in Oundle and rode back towards my Eastern edge grabbing a few tricky squares a bit of gravel and a footpath where obviously included 😁 in the ride .20 new squares total now 7569 and max cluster up 92! to 4179 , I did fill in a few holes

I should really head up Peterborough way at some point and start filling in some tile gaps up there.

I picked up a huge amount of tiles doing four editions of the now defunct Tour of Cambridgeshire, which as it tended to adjust its route slightly every year, meant I covered more and more different areas, leaving me with a bit of a honeycomb effect on the tile map that is prime territory for adding to my cluster.

The trouble is its a b*stard for me to get to that area by train, involving multiple changes and a line that has no Sunday service.

If you fancy driving I use a free car park in Oundle which I used multiple times with no issuses
