Doesn't matter now as aren't replacements only permitted on rest days?

True, but nobody really likes to know that the cool kids are all doing there own thing without them, so I should really have just kept quiet

Dogtrousers

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I'm a bit disappointed that Jonas Abrahamsen, breakaway maestro, the new Thomas de Gendt, has nul points so far from breakaways.

Uno-X apparently came to the Tour with multiple targets, and our Velogames points wasn't one of them. All they've got so far is a poxy stage win from Wærenskjold and a top 15 GC and five top ten finishes from Tobias Johannassen. That and getting in almost every break with other riders.

Well that's just not good enough.

Looking at the rider classes
Top two all rounders is little surprise - they're one and two in the GC and they've won 6 stages between them

The two best climbers are also exactly who you'd guess - at least if you were given a list of who was a climber and who was an all rounder, both of these are GC riders with solid TTs

Just the one sprinter?

Three unclassified riders. This is a bit of a shocker really, very few points to be found here - oh you'd be glad for Artz as a 4pt pick or Schmidt for 6 but Pidcock cost the same as Mads P. This is a third of your team yet the max you can get from it is 2,110pts

Wildcard - so, who is the top rider that isn't at the top of their classification?
Disregarding Jonas Vingegaard who's obviously out of the race:

That's the team you could have had if you were allowed to spend 124 points.
Three riders in that offer a return of less than 100pts per cost point (let's call it a quid)
Pogacar, Seixas and Pidcock

So lets look at budget options.....

All Rounders (still in the race) - the top two all rounders still riding
You could save some money here, but you'd be giving up a lot of points.

You'd possibly be better off with Vingegaard than the very cheap and very underscoring Van Wilder. The class has been decimated though, with Lipowitz, McNulty and Vingegaard all out but still above Van Wilder

Climbers:
Both the top two here score under 100pts per quid

Best bang for buck climber is next down, and a saving on Johannessen for very little point loss. If relative positions don't change between them then Carapaz will overtake Johannessen at the end of the race as he's higher on both GC and KoM

Sprinters
If You've got Mads P or Philipsen as sprinter or wildcard then your alternative option for either is. Scoring above 100pts per quid

Continued from above....

Unclassed riders
The second group of three in the unclassed riders category is definitely in the "cheap and nasty" range. None are scoring over 100pts per quid and they're a bit of a point drop compared to the first rate picks. collectively, these would cost only two points less than the ciurrent top three

If you were really squeezing the unclassed classification for savings, this is your current best cheapest option. Only Quinn doesn't score 100pts per quid

Wildcard
If you're syill banging on the budget then one of these two - though Carapaz or Bini would be the best picks

But if you've economised absolutely everywhere, then maybe you could afford one of these for your wildcard?

Wild swings - from 2nd last in the first week, to 2nd from top in the penultimate day. Can I get the extra 100pts? We share many of the same riders, but hopefully Pog will get me to 1st! He's been immense again.

Well I'm top overnight thanks to Super Rich Carapaz!

The Pog teams will flip back above me when the GC points get doled out later though, an possibly stage point for Pog

It's only my 2nd time playing, and I've got the Yellow, Green and Polka Dots in my team. However, I also have Uitdebrooks, and I didn't know until now that I could have replaced him

You couldn't really. There is a replacements game but that is strictly only for weak people. There are very few who lower themselves to that level.

Nonsense. The replacements league is for the cognoscenti, those that have studied the form and replace their fallen riders with fresh legs, with an eye to the challenges to come. It is for those that laugh in the face of ill fortune, pick themselves up, dust themselves of, and go again. Only the meek who lie there in the dirt, prostrating themselves before what they believe is their fate would refuse to participate. Did Mads P slink off to the back of l'autobus when all his attacking on a breakaway stage saw him lose points to his great rival, who won the sprint? NO! He attacked in the Green Jersey on the Col de la Croix-de-Fer and made his own destiny.
