They look like my local bike paths, after the councils have been a bit slack on the periodic maintenance. :whistle:

As a youngster I did steel erecting on Ivy Bridge in Isleworth 22 stories high, now I am glad I do not wear platform shoes any more. Funny how things change as you get older.

Do they allow two-way traffic on that?

(Reminded me of a Max Miller joke about meeting a pretty girl coming walking the other way on a narrow mountainside traverse - he couldn't decide whether to block her passage or toss himself off ^_^)

PS Some of the Madeira levadas are like that, e.g. levada do Curral.

Nothing like our bike paths, unless around the corner, at the very difficult traverse, it just stops and leaves you on your own for 200 yards or so before restarting.

There are videos and photos of entire Chinese families clambering past each other on that 'path'. It must be a fatalistic belief system which lets them do it. (If it is not our time to die then we will be ok. If it is, then we are doomed anyway no matter what we do!)

I've posted this before and I know it's not a road, but if you don't like heights be sure to watch this.

I tried to get someone to watch that last night but they refused!

Fear of heights is a funny thing. It makes perfect sense to want ot protect yourself from the risk of falling. It doesn't make a lot of sense to worry more about falling 1,000 ft rather than 100 ft! (I am useless with heights. I don't even like going up ladders ...)

El Caminito del Ray was a hoot when I did it back in the late 90's. Just looked at the website and it would appear that they have spent a heck of a lot restoring it and ideal for the tourist trade.

It's not very high up at all although that probably doesn't help if you don't like heights.

Your family will be fine as it looks like it is completely de-risked now.

100% with you on that one. I loved getting up high when younger but now I'm just shy of petrified! What happens?

Pedant hat on;

"Vertigo is not a fear of heights – the fear of heights is acrophobia (from Greek “akros” meaning “highest”). Vertigo (“whirling” from Latin) is the sensation of moving when you are standing still – a kind of dizziness. It is a commonly recognized medical disorder."

Pedant hat off :whistle: ^_^
True but I believe the heights contribute to the feeling of dizziness, they certainly seem to with me.

Pedant mode, ON.

As a Vertigo sufferer I'd like to point out that Vertigo is dizziness, not a fear of heights, which should be called Acrophobia. Apparently Alfred Hitchcock has perpetuated this mistake.
