Sir,
Whilst watching Match of the Day on Saturday the cameras at the

Emirates stadium focused on a Newcastle fan

drinking beer in the seating area of the stadium.

Can you please confirm that it is an offense to consume alcohol in this area.

If the large , bald , fan in the Newcastle shirt can be identified, will he be punished by yourselves, Newcastle , or Arsenal ?

and the reply came back in under 5 mins

We understand that in this case, as in many others, the issue was dealt
with on the day by the club and by the police, and Mr Ashley was
reminded of the legislation which does not allow alcohol to be taken to
the seats.

That 'fan' was the owner of Newcastle FC. Needless to say he didn't get chucked out the stadium like any other fan would have.

On the news report I'd heard earlier he said he was "unaware" that the liquid was in fact beer!
