Yes you can connect to various countries, I usually connect to UK, I may have been on the day I contacted the bank, but he did think I was in Germany, I have never knowingly selected Germany as a connection,so who knows.

Re your other post.

There is a Nord Android app so its very easy to use, don't know how easy it is on a Chromebook, but aren't they android based ? there is a Nord extension for the Chrome browser in windows.
Chromebooks don't run android. You can update the op system on some so that they will install/run android apps but I have the impression that it might slow/clog things. And I'm pretty sure my smaller chromebook, most likely to be used when out and about won't install android apps.

Many thanks for the reply. will consider nord.

Edit:

Have found an extension on chrome on my small chromebook (currently using public internet at National Theatre) and it says this:

Compatible with your device
With this proxy extension, you can stay secure and private on the Internet and avoid those annoying online ads.
Want to experience a more open and secure Internet? Look no further than the new lightweight NordVPN extension for Chrome! You can hide your IP address and encrypt your traffic by connecting to one of 4000+ servers in over 60 countries. Extra protection from IP leaks will make sure that your online identity always stays hidden. You can also use the extension to block annoying ads, malware, and other threats.

The NordVPN extension only applies to your Chrome browser. However, you can download the NordVPN apps for Windows, macOS, Android or iOS for the same price. The apps will secure everything you do online with military-grade encryption.

so we may have a solution. Seem to remember last time I looked nord demanded some complicated tinkering for chromebooks which was a bit beyond me and I feared screwing something up/leavingt holes.

With the coupon that I provider earlier in the thread, I paid exactly $107.55 for a 3-year resubscription.

On payment, just looked through the terms. You can it seems cancel the recurring payment option. This would be my mormal default - I d islike auto renewals on principle.

But under Q&As it says this:

@@

How much will I need to pay upon renewal
Your service will automatically be renewed at the end of each service period, repeating the length of the previous service period, unless you cancel. You would also be paying the same amount as you did initially.

Which would seem to imply that if you leave auto renewal on the will be paying the same discounted rate for life? Which will of course get cheaper and cheaper in real terms every 3 years?

Or am I relying too much on Panamanian law and consumer protection?

Quick question re using nord as a chrome browser extension with a chromebook and their note that it just applies to the chrome browser.

Fair to assume that this gives my entire chromebook the same protection as the android app as long as I do everthing through my chrome browser?

I assume as long as you are using the Chrome browser with the Nord extension active your internet traffic will go via the Nord connection.

I use the Chrome browser with Windows 10 with the Nord extension, if I am not using Chrome Browser, I have the Nord Windows program that I use.

Nice find, I'm actually not sure. I myself had a 2-year subscription before now and renewed for a 3-year deal with the blackoffer deal which was better in the long run.

You shouldn't worry about the renewal. I noticed, that Nord almost ALWAYS has some sort of deal going for holidays or special events.

You are correct. As long as you use the chrome you are encrypted. Personally, I even prefer the extension more than the app, for the reason that it's more convenient to use.

Many thanks for the reply. Unless someone pops back with some serious counter suggestion, I think you've sold me.

I note that that offer was supposed to run out a few hours ago.

But actually still seems to be running.

It is plus 20 per cent VAT though.

Which being an honest soul, even though financially cramped, I would pay.

Be very wary of recurring payments or continuous payment authorities.

The fact they are liked by payday lenders and porn websites tells you all you need to know.

Been checking out some reviews of nordvpn - come across a few comments that seem to say that the windows application works fine but that the chrome extension (which I would have to use on my chromebooks) causes browsing to become very slow or even stops it. And that when using the extension, unlike the windows system, you lose the option to choose which server to connect to - they choose for you.

Always possible I suppose that some of these folks had other legacy stuff installed which was interfering with things.

Comments from chromebook users (surely some out there) welcomed.
