yesterday on the way back home from work some guy on a MTB was drafting me for quite some time my legs were tired and I was going at a slow pace. I made a effort for him to pass I even went into the bus lane he followed me into it. I looked at him and told him to pass me. So he did I was much quicker then him so I was drafting him. Got to a hill I left him for dust he could not keep up!!!Swapping over or not swapping over?
I wouldn't mind pulling someone along, but I just fear if I did swap over and pull in front of the initial draftee, that it would translated as me being a douche and getting in the way....
I'm fairly sure we've never met. My bike handling skills aren't great but I do know the limitations of both my bikes eg how fast I can go on each and how quickly I can pull each one to a stop. Do you really want to be drafting someone you don't know when you've no idea when they are going to stop? That's the issue with drafting. After 3 pages of reading, just to clarify, I usually love drafting people, does that make a douche and/or TDF wannabe?

If you're rich enough to replace Lelly when you run in to the back of it as well as pay my punitive damage claim then please have fun. That's the fun part surely![]()

It is because I won't be telling you. But even if you know what's in front of me, without knowing me you don't know how I'll react to it and if you're drafting the chances are you'll be too close to react to my reaction.Completely agree with you there, but isn't also the drafters responsibility to still be completely aware of whats happening in front of the draftee?
Now every man and his dog thinks they are pro cyclist after watching one Stage and went off to Halfords and bought a bike.
Cycling to work this morning. Taking my time. Here comes a Roadie/joker drafting behind me I just smiled.

Drafting has it's place. I do draft and I also invite people to draft me (riding into headwinds is a speciality of mine) but only people I know well.
