May be a stupid question or may have been asked before but should I be doing any kind of warm up exercises before I just jump on my bike and go?!:training:

Needless to say, I haven't been doing but wondered if I ought to!

I dont know  but i touch my toes and the floor to the left and right to stretch out my back because its a bit dodgy. I think youre meant to ride the first mile or so slower to warm up too.

I usually stretch my hamstrings and quads before getting on the bike. Then an easy mile or so until warmed up

Warm ups? No.
A bit of a stretch after a particularly long or fast ride, sure. I would also suggest that doing quad and hamstring stretches post-ride is not a bad idea when you are first getting into cycling and building it up.

BEFORE getting on the bike? When your muscles are cold?
You can do more damage then good by stretching cold muscles before exercise.
I wish someone had told our rugby coach that about 30 years ago!

They make us do that in our physio class after a walk skip jump jog etc to warm up for the knee exercises.
I don't do them from the off. Always pretty warmed up by brisk walking anyway
