The Boab washing machine is knackered. It's not spinning. I have tried several programmes, tried to de scale it with descaler, failed to find a filter to empty, and kicked it...what next?

Definitely try the bushes as mentioned above. If you take them off the motor you should be able to see how worn down they are, they are usually on springs that push the carbon bushes up towards the motor thingy. If there is very little carbon left above the springs they will need changed, I am sure the internet would give you an idea of the amount in mm.

Some crappy Beko washing machines will not spin if the load is unbalanced to protect the machine. For instance if I just put one bathroom mat or something which was quite heavy when wet in ours it would simply not spin, must be some kind of sensor or something. The only remedy was to throw other items in it then stupid piece of shoot would then work. So if it is a crappy machine like that, whatever it uses to sense an unbalanced load, could also be at fault. Technology is great.
