Washing up

I was trying to set up a poll but couldn't work it out!

Need your help to solve a domestic!!! Not going to tell you too much because I don't want to influence your comments.

How many times should the washing up be done every day??? Doesn't matter who does it, just how many times? e.g. once, twice, after every meal...and why would be useful.

I have a dishwasher and throw everything into it. When full turn it on. Job done.

We wash up and put away as we go along so nothing is left standing about.
Our dishwasher recently broke and we really cant be arsed to get a new one.

It depends on:

How full the dishwasher is
If all of the plates are in the dishwasher
If all of the bowls are in the dishwasher

Anywhere between once a day and once every three days.

No dishwasher...manual all the way so does that make the difference? Also two adults, two kids if that makes any difference as well :-)

We don't have a dishwasher.

We wash up after every meal. Dirty pots are never left out overnight. They are all washed and put away before we go to bed.

No dishwasher just me, I do it once a day unless I've been baking then it's twice

Thanks for the replies...I will fill you in on the whole situation but just want to get as many people's opinions as possible before I either apologies to the wife or present a case :-)

After every main meal.
I tend to leave cups and plates from snacks until the next load gets washed up.
