Was out for a ride today when a wasp or bee (whichever one it is that can sting more than once!) managed to fly into my mouth . Did the natural thing and spat it out. It was only in there for about a second at most and managed to get 2 stings in; one on the end of my tongue and another on the inside of my left cheek. Not nice, and very fortunate that I am not allergic to them or I could have been in for a VERY unpleasant time. I seem to remember reading cases of tongues swelling up to the point that the victim has been unable to breath. I got off lightly and will still be able to enjoy my dinner tonight .

I've got massive goose bumps now reading that. Waspies and me are really really not best friends. Did you have no swelling at all then? Glad your tea will not go to waste

Just normal sting type swelling on my tongue, mostly gone now thankfully. It was on the end of my tongue so maybe my attempts at getting the sting out by squeezing tongue between teeth, followed by much spitting, was partly successful.

Had one just inside my nose earlier in the week.

Trouble is we can't exterminate either bees or wasps, both are too important for agriculture!

   Aren't you the lucky one! Enough space for THREE stings? ^_^
Let's put it this way - I couldn't even raise a smile by the time it had finished its evil work!

If I recall correctly, it's the next time you get stung that you're in trouble - not the first time.
Again IIRCC, as you've been stung in the mouth this may be more significant.
Of course I could be wrong (I'm tired now) but alarm bells are ringing in the depths of my memory. Neil

I tend to collect them in my helmet, been stung or bit on the head several times in the past, I should get one with mesh inside. or spray my head with insect repellant.
