Very, varey carefully chuck a pile of these up there. Close loft. Leave the things to do their work and kill the b*gg*rs off.

If you spray crawling insect killer all around it the wasps will pick it up as they go in and out. They'll also carry it inside and kill the ones inside as well. Destroyed a few ants nests with it, loads of household bugs and loads of flys too.

I have got rid of a few nests like that very successfully. Also, if you can get clear access to the nest, another method is to wait until well after dark when no wasps are about and envelope the whole thing in a plastic bin-liner. It's best to use a good one without holes and tie the neck up well. What you do with it after that is your choice.

There's a very small wasp-nest just inside my van's sliding door, however, I think the wasps gave up on it when I drove away as it's been there 2 years and no sign of any wasps.

I think you should take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Just mention the fact to some angling nutcases - they will dig out the nest just to get their annatto stained hands on the wasp grubs which are like giant maggots.

As a kid we used to get some smoke pellets from the chemist to do the job but they don't sell them over the counter anymore - something about cyanide being slightly harmful to modern humans.

Saga continues...tried to inspect the nest the nest at dusk and realised that the position its in makes it very difficult get at because of the design of our house.

Is there any chance that the wasps will just die off over winter if I leave it?
