Says on their web site that the office is closed until the 29th Nov,

http://www.wateroffaducksback.co.uk/accessories-42-c.asp

The office will be closed until 29th November. All orders will be processed and dispatched on the 29th.

thats new.....
Antonia has obviously left her mobile in the office , wherever that may be ...
Also answering tweets isnt dependent on the office being open either..
The order confirmation recd on Nov 8th said nothing about despatch after the 29th...it said soon..
looks like a hurried excuse today, maybe after the paypal dispute was lodged

Many years ago I had dealings with a bike company called Omega (there's history on CC if anyone fancies doing some archaeology). They were busy going bust, but used the "we're on holiday" excuse to give the owner time to squirrel away the order money before an angry mob formed.

I was involved in all that cr@p but was one of the fortunate few that got my cash deposit back...thanks in no small part to cycle chat.

I see omega bikes is basically up and running again....the nerve of some people!

How far will the bank balance of £389.00 go though?
Company owes more than it has in assets & bank balance.

If you don't get anywhere with the company, and then Paypal, you should try a charge back with your bank.

However, you can only do this if you paid using your debit card through paypal, rather than topping up your paypal account with your debit card then paying with your balance.

Luckily I'd paid by credit card, so I had a full refund as well. Not a pleasant experience though. As far as this thread is concerned, it taught me NEVER to cut a supplier any slack. It's a competive business. If any company starts to pull stunts like Water-Off, I'm straight after my money back. And.......

IF IT'S OVER £100, PAY BY CREDIT CARD!!!!!! :gun:

Ordering on 30 day terms is pretty normal.
Not as easy as it sounds.
The fact that they'll have problems paying will have got round the suppliers by now.

Am I missing something? Where is there any evidence the company is struggling to pay their suppliers or the bank?

According to their accounts for 2013 they have no current liabilities whatsoever?

Accounts up to April this year is where the declared bank balance of £389 is got from.

What size shop could operate with that much in the bank?

They won't have filed accounts up to May 2014 yet, so these are the latest:

While the financial position isn't great, they only owe long term loans/creditors and in theory can cover it if everything was liquidated at current value and all debtors paid up in full. That being said, I ain't investing!

Filed upto the end of the last Tax Year. Makes you wonder why & did they know beforehand?

Company accounts are not filed according to tax years, but according to the company's own fiscal year. This company have a fiscal year of 1st June to 31st May. They don't have to file until 9 months after, so 2014's (fiscal year ending in 2014, i.e. 31st May 2014) accounts are not due until the end of Feb 2015.
