Waterproof jacket, again sorry

I am on the lookout for a good waterproof jacket. I realise i will have to spend some serious money £100 +. It tends to rain pretty heavy where i stay. A bonus for the jacket would be if it packs down to a nice small size, it doesn't need to be a heavy weight jacket.
I like the look at some of the Gore stuff. Any suggestions????

I have a Gore Cross waterproof jacket (doesn't seem to be in the lineup now). Good fit, well made, long arms and back and a high collar. Slim fit too, comfortable to wear, nice on a freezing day and OK in a few rain showers. Didn't survive a full day of Scottish rain though, though I'm not sure anything would have done. I don't know if it was just the slow leak of water down my neck or whether it just isn't quite man enough for heavy rain but I was damp through at the end. As I say it did fine in rain showers and it is a nice jacket.
