Webcam and Mic stopped working

I've had limited success on trying to fix this - as I am at university away from home, the use of skype is pretty important to me.

Problem: Skype cannot find the camera, and the mic doesn't work. I cannot find any indication of the camera in control panal/ device manager etc. I have been trying to located a driver to download but I am clueless.

Very limited computer knowledge!

Try plugging into a different USB port; depending on the version of windows you have this might reinstall the driver.

Apologies I should have said that the webcam is inbuilt!

Uninstall the drivers, the plug and play will find them and download the drivers.

On the hardware list the brand and model will there. Try updating first, I'm on mac for a long time so I don't know where the check software update is in windows.sorry

The standard advice: "Google it" - a lot of people seem to have the same problem - link!

Specify the make and model of the laptop , sometimes these devices don't appear in device manager. Had fun on my old acer aspire 5100 with webcam drivers

I had a similar issue on an old vaio. bought a sweex webcam from maplin for a tenner and all sorted. hit a dead end in device mangler
