Webcam, and Skype..?

Anyone else do this..? I've just had my first webcam conversation, with my parents. I got them, and us, a decent wcam this Christmas. I guess the novelty may wear off to some extent, but it's quite neat. I know their grandchildren are going to enjoy it...especially messing around with the special effects, such snails slithering passed... ;)

My boss uses it regularly to talk to his wife at home, and Mrs FF participates in 'Skype meetings' at work. I've used ours (with Messenger) probably twice in the 2 years we've had it at home, but the kids are big fans.

Huh, you're on the slippery slope mate - before the month is out you'll be posting stuff on YouPorn.

I used the webcam a lot when my son first moved abroad. After a while though it gets to be irritating having to watch the out of sync jerky images. So we stick to phone calls and I.M.`s these days.

I got into that but then it got unecessary...windows messager/msn worked better with the webcam than skype did for me. It's more of a teenage thing I think...well they all seem to be on it anyway...I think the more people you know, the more you will use it.

We now have 2Ghz core2Duo, ~5.5Mbps connection and 1.3MP cam, and it was pretty good - need to tweak the brightness, gamma etc settings though.

Hi FF, HNY! I'll have to tidy the room, and give you a call then...;)

I set it up mainly for the grandparents, because we live a fair distance away, and my brother has moved oop north and further away - so hopefully he can get a wcam for the other grandchildren etc... That's the plan anyway.
