There seemed to be a craze for renaming pubs with stupid names a few years ago, fortunately most have now been returned to their traditional title. I really can't remember any of them now

The Poppe Inn, near Chard, sounds like a silly modern name, but it's beside Poppe Lane, and isn't.
The Double Locks and the Turf Locks are two Exeter pubs along the canal. The latter can only be reached on foot or by bike.
The Holman Clavel is an isolated pub on the edge of the Blackdowns with its own cider.

To the north of Otley, there's one called 'the Spite', with quite a decent tale to it

Can't remember where but we once were in a tiny village. Few houses, 3 shops and 2 pubs a few doors apart....both called The White Horse.
There's an Arabian Horse in Aberford (on the old A1/'Great North Road') it is meant to be the only pub of that name in the country

Near me, there's a Black Swan, next door - now an audio/visual repair shop, was the White Swan
