I'm not sure how far he'd actually travelled on the wrong side of road, hopefully it wasn't all the way from the back of the line of traffic. I only saw him at the last moment as I was concentrating on looking for traffic coming from my right!

Was the van turning into the road you just come out of?
This seems to be a common thing for impatient drivers, to overtake a whole line of standing traffic to do a right turn some way ahead.

They do this outside Southampton general hospital (the traffic there can be a nightmare in a car, so I head around the other way on the bike to avoid it)

This is indeed quite common.

It is also quite funny when, by pure chance, a Police car is pulling out of the junction they have performed the illegal maneuver to turn into, as I saw once. I stopped to catch my breath for a few minutes because I was laughing so hard at that one.

The drive across pavements. I've had a few times where I've thought "thank god I just passed there on foot or I'd have been hit"

See the pavement-as-road maneouvre a lot on Bolletta's school run. But that's ok, because all the kids on the pavement should be wearing hi-viz and pedestrian helmets.

Similar behaviour I believe is where a impatient moton sees a queue an decides to undertake in the Bus Lane regardless of whats there. Usually there turning off left but occasionally the push back into the main traffic stream at the front of the queue, that must really pi$$ folk off.

You arrive at a give way junction, look both ways - which should be a given and no-one's safety is endangered.

Highway code says that you shouldn't overtake at junctions. As a road user you wouldn't expect to see someone from that direction so it's a silly time to overtake.

So many seem to like to blame someone else for their unsafe cycling, im surprised you didnt have a go at the car on the wrong side of the road overtaking a parked car, but then you were focused on the van were you not? It must be why i have never had so many incidents as some on here, as a matter of course i look left also when turning left, you never know what could be there.

He overtook people who were actually driving - the parked cars were further up the road.
