You're not talking to me are you? Because I'm neither ;0)

I think they probably need to put the marker somewhere between the two

This one does have an action overload which seems rather contrived, you wonder if Bond is going to have to fight his way to the corner shop for a pint of milk, but it needs more than just the removal of some of the crashing about. Too many cardboard cut-outs where there should be real people. It's almost non stop, they've packed so much in I don't think they had the time for depth.

In some ways it's a shame as Craig is without a doubt the best Bond. He really looks the part. They'll get it right one of these times.

What was it like?

Well it won't be like any actual Bond novel!

It strikes me that they've done exactly the same as they did with Timothy Dalton (by some distance the best Bond after Connery IMHO) - first an intelligent 'back to basics Bond' followed by a slightly ill-advised sequel in which Bond goes rogue. How quickly everyone forgets...

You're best to see it yourself. I wasn't blown away but some people will love it. It's not a bad film as such, just not as great as it could have been.

Saw Quantum of Solace. Didn't think it was too bad but wasn't anywhere near as good as Casino Royale. I liked the bits in Sienna. I think the non-regular female characters were a bit weak to say the least and other weakneses in the story are probably more it being a follow up. The caribbean and south american stuff was all right and some nice explosions .

To give you an idea of how weak the storyline is, we were in the car the other day and the radio DJ, talking about the film, said; "and what was that thing about the water all about?"

My son sitting next to me said "What water?"

Rather that trying to stop a mad genius taking over the world, in this film 007 is trying to stop an evil conglomerate making money out of a poor country by controlling the water supply! This daft notion is so incidental to the action and strutting around that my son had completely missed it.

Just an aside here - it may be badly handled and not amount to a good action film, but it's far from a daft notion - the corporate control of water supplies is a huge issue in several countries - literally, a matter of life and death.

who cares? it's got Daniel Craig in it!

I am a girl, honest.
But please could someone explain the attraction of Daniel Craig to me? I really don't see it at all in the slightest. I'm even beginning to find him unattractive to the point of not wanting to see the damn film because I can't look at that face for that long (which sounds like it might be a good idea)...

Cruddy Bell... another Timothy Dalton supporter! I thought I was the only one! TD *was* my favourite Bond as he played the role more as Bond was written, and demonstrated thought instead of just a "wham bam thank you ma'am" style of previous. Then along came Daniel Craig's first outing as Bond and he overtook TD as best Bond.

sounds like you hit the nail on the head Mr Pig .. I think you do need to identify with the Bond character as you do with Bourne. With Bourne you want him to succeed. With Bond although a completly differant sort of character I feel Craig hasn't really enough character of his own to make the part his own.

I do think Quantum of Solace did resemble License to Kill in quite a few ways. I think the rogue bond routine got a bit tiresome though, it seemed like forcing Judy Dench to read out lines she didn't believe. They could have done without some of that.

I don't see what the problem with the water in the story is. I remember a few people a few years ago complaining about The World is Not Enough and saying how ridiculous it was about pipelines and these countries far to the east. They aren't saying it now!
