Finished cycle commuting last night - had everything ready to go, but intended taking the car this morning as I need some bits on the way home.

Days driven to work = 3

1st day back Jan 2010 (ICE - then snow and got spikey tyres), Monday this week to go out after work and today. Not bad.

Miles done - Just short of 5000 miles (about 4,900) just slightly more than the last two years....just (100 miles or so).

Miles in car - possibly 2000.

My last commute will be at lunchtime, work let us leave early on the last day before Christmas, will take the longer route home and try to avoid panicked last minute shoppers.

Will have completed 2000 miles by the time I arrive home, twice as much as last year.
Not big mileage but if I go the shortest way, which I never do, the distance between home and work is only 2 miles.

Well done Fossy and BSRU.

This is the first year of commuting for me, and it's been really interesting. I've done around 1500 miles since March (commuting and leisure), and have really enjoyed it. My goal now is to beat it next year!

Some data for those interested... I'm particularly interested by the average speed graph. You can definitely see the improvement as I started; however the tail-off is intriguing as I think I'm working just as hard, so will be interesting to see if the graph starts climbing again in the Spring and ends up following the average temperature.

And a tongue-in-cheek poster I made as I was the only one who came in by bike today. Feel free to put your own pic on it and use it to taunt your colleagues!

Best wishes for cycle commuting in 2011!

We've got to work till 5:30 to catch up on hours from leaving early due to snow  So last commute tonight in the dark, haven't decide whether to do the shorter road route or stick to the trails one last time

*gloat* i finished work last week. i've done just under 6,000 miles this year. I really wanted to do more but too much family stuff on the weekends.

<div><br></div><div>I've probably taken the train about 15 - 20 times this year instead of cycling, but those are down to injury, sickness, training courses with no bicycle parking and evenings out after work.</div>

4200 commuting miles. Would have over 4500 had it not been snowy in Jan and the last 3 weeks.

Looking forward to beating this in '11.

C u all next year.

Yup, just finished.

Don't think I used any other form of transport except the bike this year, about 6,400 miles cycling in total- not sure how much of that was commuting (spreadsheet is on my work PC which I won't be firing up for a few days!). No commute abandoned due to bad weather (last year I got the train home once due to snow/ inappropriate tyre choice).

Finished last night. Must have lost 7 days due to snow this year - about 5 in the first weeks of January, and a couple more recently. Would have been more but for days when I had the pool car or was off. Also I took the car once or twice due to heavy rain in the morning.

Lost my cycle computer part way through the year, so haven't got any stats. What I do know is that my mileage in the car this year was only 5,600, although only 80 miles less than last year, when I wasn't committed to cycling every day in all weathers. Must have been going out more for leisure.

Finished on Wednesday which was only the 3rd day I took the car in this year (to bring home all my work clobber!).

Just over 8000 miles for the year but have done little more than commute miles since early September so unfortunately the weight has piled on! (One full stone heavier today than on August 1st!)

Not sure how many miles I have clocked up over the year, but my commute still continues.

I will be riding in to work right over the Christmas period, including today, christmas night, boxing night, new years eve and new years day!
I do get a couple of days off in between, but if the weather is good I'll be out on the bike!
