I keep a spare pair of shorts and legwarmers at work.

I have done this but always seem to get caught out when I've forgotten to replace my stash!

You need to cycle in heavy rain, high winds at night when it's less than 5 degrees, at the moment it's 16 which is like having a just about warm shower.

..and when you do, having been caught out and gone for a scenic detour when it SEEMED mild, you can stop at your favourite chinese as you near home, unable to feel fingers, toes or nose, and when you do get home, have a shower then get the chinese out of the low oven you put it in to keep it warm, and by god, that's the best meal you'll have all week

I still remember the specific ride last winter, having to get off and walk DOWNhill towards the end because my extremities couldn't take any more wind chill

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
