Poor you! I'm not confident in water, and can't really swim well, so this is a great fear for me. At least you can see the funny side.

Just stand up, most UK canals with 7' locks are really shallow, I reckon 3'6" to 4' on most of them. River type canals and those with 14' locks will be deeper - Yorkshire have some that would trouble a basketball player!!

Assuming you have your phone apart. Put in in a box with tissue and silicone gel packs. Give it a few days and then try the airing cupboard for a week or two. My iPhone was fine after a warm wash with fabric conditioner. It took a fortnight to dry out slowly and properly.
