Surely it would have exactly the opposite effect in the event of a claim? The fact they have sprayed paint around it proves that they were aware of it but have neglected in their duty to do something about it.
No it actually means that they are aware of the pothole and as it's no longer an unreported pothole and listed in theit ever growing database they have a loop hole in legal argument of who is at fault.

One of the guys at work has been arguing this with the local authorities for the past 12 months after he hit a 2" deep and 8"wide pothole which cracked 2 x 19" AMG Mercedes alloys and bent the rather expensive suspension costing him over £2000 pound to fix.

What does it actually take to fill a pothole?

Is there some sort of magic to it, or would a couple of mixers full of tarmac and a spatula sort out a whole borough in a day?

Rhino patching nowadays. Took a three foot section into council offices when they refused to believe it'd been fixed.

Great, now Drago can congratulate them on sorting out the other 2,891 holes in his borough they fixed since identifying it - are they going to do this one tomorrow?
Do they work weekends?

... trying to work out where exactly that one is - guessing it’s on the bit of NCN near where you and I live...
Dubbs Road, between Stevenston and Kilwinning. Red blob marks the spot!

You could always try doing what I did once.
1/8th scale RC alloy car wheel in the hole and a photo taken. Another taken, close up, showing the damage caused to the wheel. Printed off and told I'd be billing them for the damage caused as they'd previously been made aware of the hole.

Response within 24 hours. Slight confusion when they couldn't find the hole at the location given.

If the craters/grooves are really awful, I send an email to the LA giving the location, and also exactly how a cyclist is going to get killed very shortly. Both LBHF and Wandsworth jumped to attention. They really don't want those details on file when it comes to an inquest.

thats because the local authority are hoping he will give up.

they cant claim they didn't know about it. there will be a record that it hasn't been rectified so they are still liable for damages.

Cheshire did the same to me when there was a nasty one on King Street middlewich . Took a few months but they coughed out in the end.

I think it's the cost of the claim that has made them stall from what we have learnt anything under £500 will be paid out without fuss. Anything over this and they get a third party involved to look at the eveidence etc.
