Don't Look Back by Boston. The album they didn't want to make but were contractually obliged to do so. Kind of prefer it to the first one, a bit deeper, less overtly commercial sounding.

Yup, agree with that. A better album.
The title track is a tour de force... (as the old cliche goes)

Third Stage was ok, had some decent highlights, but overall the disappeared too far down their own navels. Don't Look Back was the best compromise of the three, and had a harder, grittier, more rhythmic sound, almost as if Josh Homme was on guitar.

So many amazing albums have been mentioned. I'd forgotten how much I loved Appetite For Destruction back in the day. I still really enjoy it when I play it today. I'm building up a hell of a playlist for tomorrow from this.

I remember buying Sugar's mini-album Beaster and playing it over and over at full bore through headphones until my brain literally melted. There is not an ounce of fat on it. F*cking great record.

One other album I can loop over and over is Pills n Thrills and Bellyaches by Happy Mondays. Good record to get smashed/stoned/whatever to.

I remember buying Third Stage by Boston just because I liked the album cover (original LP). Haha!

Agree about the Ghost album. It's way better then their first two efforts. they seem to have now found their niche, and it's a bloody good one. The track Cirice is simply brilliant.
Cirice is probably the stand out track. Spirit is a great opener. Mummy Dust is awesome. Asolution and Deus In Absentia are worth mentioning. He Is is an odd one but it works really well. I just love the whole album really!

I love the first two albums too and I think the If You Have Ghosts EP is really, really good.

Last year kept playing If You Wait by London Grammar. Never quite figured out why it hit the right buttons, as the music was not my normal fayre.
At the other end of the spectrum many years ago I played over and over An Electric Storm in Hell by White Noise. Apart from a couple of tracks, a very dark album; one which was probably an acquired taste.

Sometimes that's all it takes. Something that's good but different will sound much fresher than something good but similar to your normal listening habits.

Motorhead - Bomber. Turned me into the raging headbanger that I am.
Judas Priest - British Steel. Reconfirmed that Heavy Metal music was the best music ever.
Husker Du - New Day Rising. Confirmed that Heavy metal music wasn't the best music ever.
Faith No More - The Real Thing. Reconfirmed that Heavy Metal music wasn't the best music ever.
Slayer - Reign In Blood. Reconfirmed again that Heavy Metal was the best music ever.
Metallica - Ride The Lightning. Absolutely reconfirmed that Heavy Metal was the best music ever
Sick Of It All - Just Look Around. I never knew such anger and angst could be put to music and resonate so much with me.
Therapy? - Troublegum. This just hit me like a hammer to the head. One of the greatest albums ever recorded imvho. My go to album if I am undecided as to what to play.
Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots - Simply brutal, simply brilliant.
Tool - Aenima. One of the most complex pieces of Rock music that you would ever hear.

I could go on... but you'd get bored.

Wouldn't get bored with much of that list Ian.

Bomber ... Motorhead's finest hour
Judas Priest... I'd go with Stained Class as their best album
Metallica... I prefer Load and Reload over anything else they've done (blasphemer!)
Ah Therapy? One of the finest and most underated bands ever. I've got all their stuff and I'd put Suicide Pact You First as their best album followed by Troublegum and High Anxiety

Bands you didn't mention .... Anthrax - We've Come For You All is awesome and way underated.
The Almighty.... Their first 2 or 3 albums are a bit generic rock n roll that don't exactly displease the ear.... but then they released Crank, Just Add Life and The Almighty which are 3 fine albums

Rock n roll :wahhey:

You legend! Crank is an awesome album! I genuinely like all of Anthrax's albums, including the John Bush years, but Spreading The Disease, Among The Living or State Of Euphoria are my favourites.

I've added Troublegum to tomorrow's playlist. I haven't listened to it in years but loved it when it came out. I didn't get on with other Therapy? albums though. I must give them another go.

Sorry For Nothing off Crank is The Greatest Riff Ever... well according to me and my mate anyway.

I prefer the Bush era stuff to their earlier work but it's a close call really. Worship Music ain't bad either with Belladonna back on duty.

I think you'll like Suicide Pact You First by Therapy? although I admit it's a hard listen. :becool:

Yeah, Worship Music is good.

It depends what you mean by "hard listen". I like jazz fusion, Mr Bungle and Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica, not to mention a lot of grindcore, death metal, black metal etc.
