Hi All

In my previous thread, I asked about pannier bags but now I need to find a really good pannier rack.

It needs to fit all kind of bikes 29ers/Road bikes/gravel/cyclocross etc.

I bought this one last week tried to put it on but tyre clearance was a bit worrying at only about 0.5cm-1cm.

Today I had a look at this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/PedalPro-Adjustable-Bicycle-Pannier-Reflector/dp/B01I3PR9C0/ref=sr_1_9

Anyway I need a rack that will fit any bike and have good clearance.

Any bike, then no chance.

Different drop out widths then discs. You may need at least two.

Useless answer. I have a Tubus Cargo. It fits my bike and is a rack. I can't ask any more of it. I don't know if it would fit other bikes.

I warned you it was a useless answer.

I had to get a different rack for my 26" MTB as the one on my road bike would just not fit. A rack that fitted a 29er would be the one to go for and see if it could be bodged, but you may have a boost rear end and it will be wide compared to a road or CX bike

How much weight do you want to carry on it?

I imagine that the clearance on the 29er was the problem?

I have a rack on my CAADX similar in design to the one you linked to and there is loads of clearance above the 35C tyre with a big mudguard over it. It has the extra bits shown on that Halfords rack to give clearance round the disk brake.

How much clearance does it have your rack?
I would probably want to carry maximum weight that I can.
Also, it is a 29er. I also have road bike and there is so much clearance but I don't want to use my road bike for that.

It is a cyclocross bike NOT a 29er with huge tyres. If the bike had big knobblies on then there WOULDN'T be much clearance with my rack either!

Does your Halfords rack have a height adjustment?

I've used a Tortec Expedition rack on and off for about ten years. I think it's pretty good. Here's a review.

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
I got one of these for my Planet-X Full Monty,

Very solid construction, it carries the family shop every week, has plenty of clearance, and very reasonably priced

That's what I use too. I've bent the legs out a tad and shoved a couple M6 stainless sleeve spacers in to make it disc brake compatible.
It's rated to 25kg but I've actually sat on it whilst it's been bolted on the bike and it didn't squish. It's height adjustable and there's a ton of room for big tyres.
