What are the advantages and disadvantages of MKS detachable pedals?

I'm using toeclips on my Brompton, which means no folding pedal. A detachable pedal would seem to be a solution to the problem of carrying the thing with a pedal sticking out. What travellers tales do people have?

I have just fitted Wellgo removable pedals to my Brompton, I read one too many stories of the MKS pedals coming off accidentally to want to try them.
