Sure is, and I thought they were just an acid trip when not playing AB or WD. The 1977 gig in your link has some nice straight ahead rock and roll too, liked the covers of Marty Robbin's western hit 'El Paso' and the Merle Haggard classic 'Mama Tried'. Great stuff!

Many people have that misapprehension - either that one or the one that they must sound like Anthrax or Cradle of Filth with a name like theirs!

Anyway, if you feel inclined to hear something super-exquisite, try Track 12 of 14 October 1983. Only an audience taper's recording (the soundboard recording is on CD, not streamable), but Jerry's stunning flow of notes starts at 3'13"and is quite outrageously beautiful. And all invented on the spot! :becool:

Just checking out some Johnny Paycheck country Christmas tunes - they're not really for the kids as they're all songs full of broken dreams, alcoholism, self pity, etc - pretty maudlin stuff, crackin' choons though!
