It's a fanfic writer's term for those little annoying ideas that pop up in your head, usually when in the middle of doing something else. Like trying to get to sleep LOL!

Totally different from a prompt, which is an idea generated by some external entity.

Nice to have a little phrase for it which is fun, rather that based on vaguely grumpy frustration!

I was walking back from Aldi this afternoon and I spotted a load of books chucked in a roadside skip. Some were in a very poor condition but I picked up 3 that looked ok and worth reading, though I haven't started yet...
The skip is still there and I rescued another book from it today. It looks interesting...

Never enjoyed Pratchett's discworld books but on a recommendation am trying his Long Earth story. The setting is conceptually amazing, but the narrative feels like nothing more than a series of mosy unconnected events; there's little exploration or development of characters; no story!

I was given Secret of Secrets (Dan Brown) for Christmas, and find that much more interesting. Well researched, as ever, and a fast paced story.

I've just finished John Banville's Venetian Vespers, our latest book club choice. I thought it was terrible - over wordy and rambling. The characters are uniformly unlikeable. It was a slog.

What makes it doubly disappointing are the reviews, and Banville, who compare it to the beautiful writing of Henry James.

Dan Brown better than Pratchett? I need a lie down.

I've just finished the introduction in this, very academic text book in style, I think it's going to be a challenging read.

That wasn't actually too bad, as it was written by a commie it obviously says that commies are brilliant. 🤣

Just started this now, the front cover is a famous Cecil Beaton photo taken during the battle of Britain, he doesn't look a day over sixteen there but has already been risking his life and watching his friends being killed in action, absolutely crazy that a few nutcases caused all that madness.
