I've made it a priority to see all the ones I consider 'The Greatest' even if it means going to their nations to see them so apart from Marvin Gaye and the Four Tops, I think I've seen everyone I wanted to see. Where Joseph Hill and his band, Culture are concerned, even though I was disappointed he died just a few days before playing in Leeds a few years ago, I was consoled by the fact I'd seen him and them at the Manchester Apollo in 1979. But as a sort of belt-and-braces job, I went to see Lee 'Scratch' Perry in Manchester last Tuesday even though we've seen him about a dozen times and promised ourselves the time before this one was the last time we'd go as he's clearly lost it all now and never plays with the same band (guitarist and drummer apart).

Oh, one thing comes to mind. When we went to see Aretha Franklin in New York five years ago, while we were there, we went in a jazz bar/restaurant just off Broadway and saw David Jones the former Monkee appear unannounced on stage. A bit of banter with the crowd and a couple of songs. Three days later, he died so even though he wouldn't have been high on our list, we can always say we were amongst the last people to see him perform!

Whole bunch of my friends went to see the 'legendary' Born in the USA gig at Wembley in '85 - I didn't go, being in a strop because my then-girlfriend was so besotted with him. What a twat.

Born in the USA b side I'm on fire was the first single I bought with my own money.

Alice in Chains with Layne Stayley, I had the opportunity but my children were young and I didn't have a great deal of money at the time so I gave them a miss thinking they would tour again. Sadly Stayley's drug habit eventually got the better of him, Alice in Chains reformed with a replacement vocalist but Layne was irreplaceable.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I never noticed that, cheers!
I didn't pick up on it either - I read it in an interview! :okay:

The Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles. My fate to be born too late.
The Stones live performances are all about atmosphere, if you close your eyes and listen it sounds crap, nothing like their studio recordings. After Mick Taylor played live with them for the first time at Hyde Park he said he couldn't believe how bad they were, out of tune and all over the place.

I had tickets to go see The Smiths, gave them to my mate because I'd finally got a date with a girl I'd been chasing for ages. He didn't go and I never had another date with her. They split shortly after. Still irks me 30+ years later.
