What could have caused this? Lots of bubbles from tube in a line.

My Ridenow TPU tube started leaking which got worse over time so finally took it out and had a look. I discovered a straight line of 10-12 small holes! And they don't seem to be facing the tread, rather the sidewall or even the rim. But I couldn't see anything suspect on the rim. Any ideas?

It's just stock tubeless rim tape that comes fitted with Shimano wheels. It seemed OK to me.

Get's a reasonable rating and only 36g: wicked though not if it leaks.
Maybe suffering slow degradation through hysterical friction at the rim tape edge / rim line.

The nature of leaking is different from latex tubes. TPUs don't normally leak, but this one obviously developed strange holes on the side. Could be friction against a slightly rough surface over time that caused them, who knows. I've decided to go tubeless for the rear wheel anyway.
