Have a mixture of tradional 'from scratch' stuff on the go and also partake in the kits as a cheap plonk.

I have stopped all unnecessary spending like a new sail and bilge pump for my kayak
the heating will only go on if I'm unwell :cold:
lighting well I have a one light rule only and watch TV in the dark
and as for food just the bare necessities

were cutting back quite a bit.
Family of 5 with a mortgage & 2 cars.

My wife has just taken a job on about £300 per month less pay than what she's on now but it means that she will be walking to work everyday so we now no longer need 2 cars. So mine is going to be sold very shortly.

All our shopping is done in Aldi, we dont drink or smoke. We rarely go out and dont have take aways.

insulated the loft ( by extending upwards  ) the remortgage and better interest rate means we are better off by about £50 a month. don't use car at weekends unless absolutely neccesary. can't wait for pay as you go VED !!

have cut back on bike bit spending but we do have all bikes fully functional now and in tip top condition. I must stop coveting ultegra groupsets though

I've had to cut down to only half a bottle of 50 year old single malt a day and had to cut down on the Cuban cigars. This recession is no fun.

No holiday abroad next year - we will stay at home
No more sky - its gone
No more nice meat pies
trying to give up smoking - cut down by 1/3,now need to get it down a bit more...

Looking on the bright side,at least the bankers will have a good time with a nice round of juicy pay rises for them.

Cancelled my union subscription. Changed bank account from one with useless or already covered insurance add-ons. New car! Seriously cycling earned me some reasonable equity in my old car which has brought the monthly cost of new one down by £50 as well as putting me in a faster leaner more fuel efficient motor with VED costing about half the cost of the old one. C2W deductions end in November. Changed car insurance. Got new car deal with makers insurance saving £14 a month on previous policy. Energy suppliers owe us which is a good place to be with rising energy costs prior to winter. Will have foreign holiday next year as silver wedding anniversary. Asda shopping not Sainbury's. Still have it delivered though.

Binned Sky, make sandwiches instead of buying them, got rid of all my magazine subscriptions except pro-cycling, shop in Aldi, changed car for a cheaper one to run, no foreign holidays.

What's annoying is just as you think you're making headway, your costs go up. Think I'm going to have to sell one of the kids, they are expensive!
