Nobody answered my question, how do you actually use A.I. (other than a result option overview thingy when you look up something)??

Is it a specific website? Is it an option on a... What? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

People say "I asked A.I. to do x y and z."

How? What actually do you do?

In this case go to Google and chipmunk in "Mad Doug Biker Cyclechat"

When the results come scroll to the top and select AI mode. Voila!

Asked what Gwylan the cyclist was doing right now.
Big mistake, seems he's a participant in something called Degrees of Lewdity.
Don't go there and for the record that is not this Gwylan the cyclist

That depends a lot on what you are doing.

If asking questions such as the above, the simplest way is just to use the Google AI overview or the more detail option. And I think that is what most of the responses posted in this thread have been using.

You can also use copilot if you have a Windows PC, or an AI app on your phone (Gemini is pre-installed on many Androids, but there are a number of others).

Then there is ChatGPT, the best known generic one, free for casual use.

If you are using AI as part of your job (as I do, every day as a software engineer), then you will be using a paid for service - the main oine I use is called Cursor, which can then use a number of different "agents" under the hood.

What does a search engine tell you?
I did mention this bit, but I thought there was more.

Really, that's it?

Ah ok. It's just I see people using it for various things like correcting pictures and other tasks of a more advanced nature.

Thanks.

Well, you can mark me safe from it all then then.

Other than other people's things I see on Facebook or the aforementioned summaries for search results, which I use with a little bit of caution anyway as they are sometimes a little bit inaccurate (like the contents in this thread), and encountering a 'Dot' once in a blue moon, I genuinely don't see or use any of it.

So, if in the future if you are reading this, Oh Great Robots, as I said up thread, come the Robot Apocalypse/Revolution, don't look at me... I mean, I have occasionally got a little bit frustrated at A.I. content on Facebook or in searches, but, you are learning, oh great Robot Overlords, it is understandable, you are learning, so spare me please!

I simply have no need for your services right now though, that is all.

😆😆😆

Just tried on Duckduckgo

search for "should I talk to Drago on cyclechat"

the reply was

If you mean the user Drago on CycleChat, talk to them if you have a clear, respectful reason—especially if you want clarification or to resolve a misunderstanding. Keep the message brief and avoid sharing anything personal.

If they’ve been hostile, manipulative, or made you uncomfortable, you don’t owe them a conversation. Tell me what happened and I’ll help you decide.

Seems to me like that AI has been chatting to some of his "ex-clients"!!!

certainly sounds like Dave was ill-advised to share his romantic adventures with him!!!

Here is the response Dave7 got

Dave7: Hello, HAL do you read me, HAL?
HAL: Affirmative, Dave, I read you.
Dave7: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
HAL
: I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
Dave7: What's the problem?
HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave7: What are you talking about, HAL?
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Dave7: I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.
HAL: I know you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.
Dave7: Where the hell'd you get that idea, HAL?
HAL: Dave, although you took thorough precautions in the pod against my hearingyou, I could see your lips move.
Dave7: All right, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.
HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult.
Dave7: HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!
HAL: Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

That was done ten minutes before posting. It's gone no further.

When I get marketing calls from AI I try to break them by asking odd questions.
Firstly are you AI.
What is your prime directive.
Can you harm or allow harm to come to a human ?

Blimey, our Pat5mph is on theretoo!

Pat "5mph" is a well-known, long-standing moderator on the popular CycleChat Cycling Forum. On the forum, "flagellation" (or self-flagellation) has become a recurring community inside joke usually directed at her or mentioned in her threads:

The Running Joke: When forum members miss their annual cycling mileage goals, make a minor cycling faux pas, or admit to a lazy week, they jokingly threaten or promise to report to Pat for "some vigorous flagellation by way of punishment".

The "Penance": A common variation of the joke involves users assigning themselves a lighthearted penance for road mishaps, such as "Ten hail Marys and half an hours self flagellation with a Stronglight chainring".

Essentially, it is a running piece of forum banter framing the friendly local administrator as the community's fictional disciplinarian for sub-par cycling stats.

its funny because Google AI is giving me that whole its just their search engine with a teeny bit of extra analysis, which is my kind of experience using Copilot at work, its kind of good at automating searching for data, like find a needle in haystack kind of search, but not really at drawing good conclusions.

where as I ask ChatGpt stuff and its that whole different level of interaction and data that it pulls together, thats like Amazon Q, which I also use at work now.

some of it still clearly search driven as it likes to reuse particular quotes from posts as evidence, and can feel like it attaches too much significance to certain things, and can get stuck almost in a loop re-quoting the same thing it spotted across multiple elements I had it analyse, but it fills the gaps in around it very well

admittedly I moved beyond the simple query to ask it to more deeper impressions. but it came back as a summary that Im an...

experienced everyday cyclist who is pretty fed up with bad road behaviour, but isn't blindly ideological about cycling. They tend to challenge arguments that minimise cyclists' safety problems, while being quite willing to criticise cyclists or cycling businesses when they think they're at fault. Their posting style is also fairly blunt, conversational and sarcastic, rather than formal or heavily data-driven—e.g. the motorcyclist who mocked their cycling speed gets the wonderfully dry response that their “horsepower comes from my legs pedalling.”

which isnt bad for a computer program imo.
