My number one accessory currently mounted on my bike is a strong steel ‘wire’ construction no more than 7mm thick covered with a black plastic, formed into a symmetrical Greek mu (ish) symbol useful for holding a cylindrical container with sports cap and liquid refreshment of my choice.

Back in the eighties, my bike had a couple of very nice Lyotard platform crown cork bottle openers.

For the youngsters, here's what the bottle opener looked like:

I have those pedals on one of my tandems

I used to race on those (The pedals, not the bottle tops). Very secure with clips, straps and shoeplates.

My bike *had* a chain hanger... until I cycled off after fixing a flat.

I had a pair of Rivat shoes with hard rubber soles - they had a pattern of pointed triangles or diamonds on the sole which formed grooves that worked similar to (but not as 'aggressively' as) a shoeplate - very secure and comfortable.
