My daughter made me watch Beauty and the Beast, the recent live action version.
Total shite, and even Emma Watson can't make it much more watchable.

The message it sends to the viewer is dreadful, the acting decidedly average, and the whole thing is just painful.

You want the 1946 Jean Cocteau version. That's a proper film: pure magic from start to finish

Fear Eats the Soul - a very good if profoundly depressing portrayal of '70s Germany and a developing relationship between a kindly old German woman and a younger Moroccan man that among other things starkly highlights the apparently hardwired vicious racism all but ubiquitous among the woman's friends, neighbours, workmates and family. You can't help but sit there thinking 'did they learn nothing?'

*sigh*

Surely Bruce Willis and John Goodman can't be that short of money?

A PI's dog is stolen by a drug dealer and he has to do favours to get it back, amongst other things that are going on as well.

A sort of action film that looks like it's had a bit of comedy thrown in, although when they threw it they missed by miles.

2/10.

Saw that a few weeks ago and for the most part, I enjoyed it for what it was. It didn't fare well with the critics etc but gawld knows, I seen a lot worse.

The Intern.

Robert DeNero plays a bored retiree who returns to work as an intern for Anne Hathaway and becomes a sort of mentor to her.
Rene Russo also stars.
If you want a quiet calming film with a few chuckles and brilliant acting, this is it.
Brilliant brilliant film.

I, Tonya. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but my missus wanted to watch it so I said ok. Terrific! Full of excellent performances and great one-liners. A strange and compelling tale, told with great relish. 8/10.

Deepwater Horizon.

What a load of tosh. Mark Wahlberg grunting but just about managing not to carry out any racially motivated assaults. Mucho anti British sentiment, while conveniently forgetting that while BP were doing the hiring and paying the bills all the contractors firms doing the work and cutting the corners were American.

-1/10. A bunch of dreadfully acted anti-Anglo twaddle. It was so bad I almost wished Wahlberg had gone down with the real Deepwater Horizon.

The Greatest Showman.

I am unable to compete this review as I took a cyanide capsule 10 minutes in.
