Bagdad cafe. A lone, large, Bavarian woman walks away from her boorish husband in the middle of nowhere in some godforsaken wilderness like Utah or Nevada and takes up residence with a bunch of misfits hanging out at a tired, rundown motel. Very odd, rather wonderful. You wonder how it ever got made; but you're glad it did.

Cracking film. It got turned into a really crappy sitcom with Whoopi Goldberg.

Deadpool 2 - 6/10

If you've seen Deadpool, you've seen Deadpool 2 which is in a way the point I suppose. Funny, violent, irreverent and scathing but not quite as quick-witted as the first.

Fired up the original Alien. The best of the bunch for me.
I fell asleep but it's probably showing it's age, and maybe has some jarring 70s attitudes.

The Enforcer.

My favourite Dirty Harry film. Good plot, unspeakably violent, and Tyne Daly is the perfect foil for the misogynistic Harry, who grudgingly grants her his respect. Brilliant, arguably the best of the series.

9/10.

recent watches include
Greatest showman - 7/10, simply for Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. Mr6 didn't enjoy it and littlest 6 just got cross because I kept pointing out factual inaccuracies.
Cargo - 7/10, was a bit of a slow mover, but I enjoyed it, even though I predicted the end five minutes into the film.
Valerian and the city of a thousand planets - 4/10. Some good effects, samey samey story line and a very implausible love connection.

Requiem for a Dream. Gruelling. The best anti-drugs 'thing' I have ever come across, featuring tremendous performances, some barf-inducing makeup/special effects and genuinely imaginative use of varied and innovative cinematography to illustrate the drugged experience - particularly in the case of an old woman spinning out on 'diet pills' - ie, speed. Just don't do it, kids, 'nkay?

What Happened to Monday.
A bit hard to follow given there are 7 identical sisters in EVERY way barring their characters (all played very very well IMO by one person) and TBF, when you had more than one in any shot, it was cleverly done but you could see it was overlaid or whatever.

Lots of action, dilemma, a spoonfull of filth , death and survival against the odds.

We REALLY enjoyed that one.

Absolutely fabulous, utterly and ultimately grim... not sure I'd watch it a 2nd time though.
