What film did you watch last night?

I've never noticed until you mentioned it, a quick IMDB search has surprised me there.

Mind you I couldn't really get in to it so was paying too much attention.

Spiderman: brand new day - same old formula.
A 2 and a half hour essay on the torture and loneliness of superheroism.
Lots of bangs & explosions, too much smell the fart acting and probably half an hour too long.
Spiderman will return.

Complete drivel, minimal (if any budget), no story, no acting, totally predictable. Thoroughly unconvincing "baddy" who would have been better cast as a mild mannered father in some family drama.

Only good thing about it is it's fairly short but you can save time by not bothering to start.

Only reason I watched it was its cast includes Ioan Gruffudd and he's done some really good stuff (eg Hornblower). He should have walked away from this film.

Ghost Trail on Iplayer.

French made film with subtitles about a Syrian who is part of a group that are involved in trying to track down war criminals from the Assad regime. Pretty watchable. One notable scene where the lead character comes face to face with the guy he is following. 7/10.

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, in full iMax.
To say this movie is an epic is the understatement of the year.
Everything about it was absolutely brilliant. The storyline, the set piece action sequences, the actors and acting. The cinematography was stunning with a soundtrack that tears right through your chest and bones. Mind-blowing.
It was long, three hours but no mid movie dip. It simply roared along at a hand gripping, edge of your seat pace.
This movie deserves all the accolades it's currently getting and more
If you're going to see one movie this year then this is the one.
And it must be at iMax.

The Town.

Bank robbery movie that wasn't up to the description of an edge of your seat thriller but was reasonable. Ben Affleck stars and directs.

I saved money on IMAX by buying tickets for Row C (it was all that was left)

2 weeks after opening and most of the screenings at my local iMax are near to sold out. I haven't seen a movie this popular in many a year. Will be going along again but with friends who haven't seen it yet.

Any way...off now to see the new Spiderman movie.

Thanks for the recommendation. It's sold out at my local Imax currently so I've booked tickets for a week on Wednesday, the first date seats are available.

I started to watch Frank, based loosely around the paper mache headed entertainer.

Unfortunately my twelve year old girl was with me and after about ten minutes I discovered it was a fifteen due to some of the choice phrases, I'll have another go again soon.

Finally got round to this, what a waste of time.

Frank Sidebottom doesn't have an American accent, and he was far funnier thank the Frank in this film.

2/10, and it only gets the two for Maggie Gyllenhaal.

‘Waves of Honour’ (1951). Cooper, Marvin and a very young Bronson. No waves of note, no honour upheld, but a light comedy drama set in the wartime US Navy demonstrating a remarkably Orky attitude to technology.

Frank Zappa - Roxy, the Movie.

Concert footage from 1973 that should have been televised in 1974 but a feck-up with the technology of the time meant the audio and video couldn't be synchronised until some digital tech was invented to sort the problems out. The movie couldn't be made so it ended up as the LP; Roxy and Elsewhere. Finally some 40 years later the movie finally got its release and it's glorious. The musicianship is on another level but some of the lyrics and on stage banter/antics are very much 'of its time' (or sexist, to be blunt). I'd still give it a solid 9/10.
