Whut? The last gear i rode it in. Though sometimes j push it to the easiest gear (of the biggest ring) so i don't forget to do it the following morning when i have to ride up a hill.

Leave mine in the highest gear when I go to the corner shop and have forgotten my lock. That way, I can laugh at whichever little scrote tries to pedal off on it if they try to nick it!

I change mine a couple of gears up just before stopping at home because the way out is downhill.
At work or elsewhere I leave it in the gear I've arrived.
Lbs gave me the bike back on big rear, small front a few times.
Maybe because this is how they finish indexing the gears?

Depends, if it's cold then I tend to leave it on the one I was using when I get off the bike, but if it's warm I leave it on the one I was using when I get off the bike. Of course it's a different matter if it's raining, when I leave it on the one I was using when I get off the bike.

As long as it's not cross chaining, that's acceptable. Cross chaining is the work of Satan, ANY cross chaining will result in the spontaneous explosion of the bike. Ohhhhhh the humanity, sprockets and bits of chain, and bottom bracket parts alllllll over the place:eek:.

This.

One time, the whole rear wheel came out and left me standing on the floor balanced on a pedal.

Now I think about it, when I was little and had my first bike with gears, a SA 3 speed hub, I was taught to leave it in the slackest position.
That would have been the third (hardest) gear. That way the cable was not tensioned. Doesn't apply to derailleur gears.

If it's a bike I use daily I will leave it in the gear I arrived. If it's only ridden every few weeks then I put it in small-small combination to take the strain out of the derailleur springs.

Hopefully a lowish gear as you tend to ease off as you reach your destination, unless you are running late or it's pouring with rain and you are in a hurry to get in the dry....

Also to get to my back garden involves a couple of tight 90 deg bends with slight level changes and gravel at one point so the gear that makes that most manoeuvrable! (Always aim not to put a foot down whilst doing it though that does count on the side gate being open!;))

I'm pretty sure this is one of your bikes, no? Nice chainline.
