What happened to decency?

Years ago I was sitting in my car in a supermarket carpark when a small child released the door of a large 4x4 and the huge heavy door swung into my door!

Decency is alive and well and everywhere.

Until money is involved then it disappears.

This afternoon, my wife went to Morrisons to do some shopping. When she came back to the car park, some b*****d had scratched both near side doors while getting his / her car out. Needless to say, no phone number was left behind. Are people so wrapped up in their own lives that they can't admit to their own mistakes these days? What happened to decency and honesty?
Unfortunately, most people don't give a $hi4....

Is having your car hit by a door classed as a collision? Is it the same as someone reversing into you in a car park. Although I would expect more damage to be caused by someone dooring your car than someone slowly reversing into it.

It would get rid of loads of careless drivers if Boris made every car driver buy a newer car .
Singapore do something like that, you buy a car and you also have to buy (a very expensive) 'Certificate of Entitlement'.

This lasts for 5 or 10 years, then you have to sell the car, and it has to leave Singapore.
Means there's no old cars and inefficient chuggers on the roads.

(There are some proper classic cars, but you have to be proper minted to run one there)

If you do decide on a chimps sway jobbie check them out first, most are very inexperienced.

I make a lot of my income fixing car park dents, unfortunately for the car owners I am very busy. Most chimps sway do not fix dents even though they may advertise the fact, they farm it out to PDR guys like myself. Now I know most of you will not know about PDR, as a trade we may well have been to busy to get the word out to the public.

Paintless Dent Repair, no paint, no filler, no fuss and for a lot less than a bodyshop.

Is that like a big can of pipe freezer and a hair dryer...seen it on youtube...very impressive

I can only speak as I find screenman... you must have a poor 'chimps away' franchise where you are, the one in Newcastle is brilliant and does 'PDR" repairs with skill and care on the spot, cos I watch him do them and for a lot less money than the back street body repair con man round the corner.

Unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg. A lot of people have no real conscience about the consequences of their actions. If they can get away with it, why bother owning up to it, or even worse, blame the victim and if he/she argues, give him/her a good beating. That's the way thing's are heading in the western world and it's going to be a scary place to live in in 30 or 40 years time.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
The overwhelming majority of people are decent and honest. Once in a while you come across one that isn't.

The more perceptive readers may spot an analogy with cyclists and attributes like "red-light jumper" or "riding without lights" or "riding on the pavement".

I know a good panel beater and paint sprayer just down the road. He is very good and his rates are much cheaper than any garage so I will contact him tomorrow. Very annoying as it seems to happen to my wife every 18 months or so. Maybe she should give up driving? ( although if wasn't her fault).

My tactic is to park in a spot some distance from the supermarket where there is a lot of space. It means I can never visit Asda but is that so bad?

Sadly I think this is accepted as "normal" now, it's a risk you take parking at Supermarkets and retail parks. I think the recent drastic and very silly increase in car width may have something to do with it too.

Happened to my wife's MX5 a few weeks ago, nice golf ball side dent in the door. I have a Jeep, all the doors are dented, it looks fine like that.

I did that the other week and when I got back to the van someone had parked right next to me  It was only when I got in the van and looked down into the car window I realised why . The driver was burning a substance on a bit of foil paper
