There are huge dumps of the stuff apparently, as council's don't know what to do with it. There was an article about it a while back.

Are the bags eco-friendly i.e. do they degrade naturally??
10 million dogs live in the uk,
thats 20 million poop bags a day going to the tip

Would'nt it be better to train dog owners to make em poo in the gutter????
or take it home and flush it down the loo???

It's all being stored until they get to the root of this banking furore then all the bad bankers are going to have to separate the poo from the plastic bags and dispose of each in an environmentaly friendly manner.

We need to return to Victorian values as I am concerned that this valuable resource is being squandered.
London Labour and the London Poor” by Henry Mayhew, 1851

The pure-finders meet with a ready market for all the dogs'--dung they are able to collect, at the numerous tanyards in Bermondsey, where they sell it by the stable-bucket full, and get from 8 d. to 10 d. per bucket, and sometimes 1 s. and 1 s. 2 d. for it, according to its quality. The "dry limy-looking sort" fetches the highest price at some yards, as it is found to possess more of the alkaline, or purifying properties; but others are found to prefer the dark moist quality. Strange as it may appear, the preference for a particular kind has suggested to the finders of Pure the idea of adulterating it to a very considerable extent; this is effected by means of mortar broken away from old walls, and mixed up with the whole mass, which it closely resembles; in some cases, however, the mortar is rolled into small balls similar to those found. Hence it would appear, that there is no business or trade, however insignificant or contemptible, without its own peculiar and appropriate tricks.

Those were the days!

I believe it's highly toxic and doesn't degrade at all well. It wouldn't be at all surprised if it's a real problem for councils and that there's a poo mountain somewhere.

But, speaking as the owner of 2 dogs, I'd be really interested to know the answer.

You wish! That's assuming people bother picking it up.
Some bags are degradable, some aren't.
