What has my 6 quid got me?

Lying on its side, wheels acimber, the twinkle of the chrome forks caught my eye.
“How much” I said.
“£6” was the reply from the nice man at the car boot sale.
My only dilemma was how am I going to sneak this past my long suffering partner.
Do I keep it and rebuild? Any idea what it is? I am sure it’s a bad respray of something other than a globetrotter?

It is interesting Cycleops. The tubing is light and there is no seam when I look down the seat post (which I believe is a good sign?)
I can't find any numbers, just thick paint on the bottom bracket.

Suicide levers, SR chainset, steel rims, pump pegs. I’d say it sixties. The dealer sticker on the seat tube might give you some clues. Any numbers on the rear dropout?
Someone on here might recognise those lugs but apart from that I don’t have a clue. Long wheelbase so not a race bike. 27” wheels?

Uniglide is Shimano 82-89. Rear block looks later than the 80's looking at the number of teeth.

Has the underside of the bottom bracket been cut and re-welded? Looks like a seam thats been ground back and painted.

Good spot. Might have been done to close the hole and give enough meat to cut new threads. Or it was stolen and the frame number has been ground off.

I saw another pic of a bike with a 'GT Bikes' logo on the head tube. Most of the search for 'globetrotter' brings up pics of mountain bikes.
